Happy Birthday Phil

Our Team at Middleham surprised him with a fantastic cake made by Meg, not sure if there are enough candles on it though!!

We had a huge crowd come to visit our yard as part of Middleham Open Day yesterday, the sun shone all day and our horses seemed to really enjoy the attention. It was a shame that Stormy Morning could not cap the day off properly with a win but it was not to be and we can only forget the rather mystifying run and look to next time as he is fine today.  Visitors to the yard could see some of our exciting bumper horses in the paddock, Lady Buttons and Up the Bees gleaming in the sunshine.

Tomorrow sees three runners at our luckiest track, Musselburgh, although two of them run in the same race, the valuable Musselburgh Gold Cup. Pictured above is ‘Blackie’ who runs in the last, the Apprentice race ridden by Eva. He will have come on nicely for his first outing but we expect him to improve again , he often takes a couple to be fully tuned. The same could be said for Dr Irv (Russ Kennemore) who doesnt usually win first time but worked really well last week and is ready to go to the races. Both he and Pass Muster (Philip Makin) have won here and they both like really quick ground, we would love to win it with one of them, its a really good prize.

Rosie du Berlais schooled today under Cathy Walton, all went well. she holds an entry at Kelso in the novices Hunter Chase next Tuesday. Oly Rocks and Lady Heidi worked this morning,  along with  Rocky Two, Eltheeb and Perennial.

Some of our team pictured below; green jackets out in force – everyone had worked really hard to make sure the yard was spick and span and dozens of manes had been re- pulled so that all the horses looked super smart.

Back at Castleton we did some schooling in the field with 4 year old ‘Chloe’s Image’ (Carl) and Pat (Kim) – Chloe was jumping superby – she is for sale and is a super event prospect – or ROR.

Pat looking fit and well again in the sunshine – he is seeking a forever loan home.
