A trip to Southwell: Mysterious Wonder finding a couple too good but beaten less than 2 lengths – his day is surely round the corner. After talking to Phil on the way home he seems keen to step him up in trip further and he will be back out again in the next few weeks. As he is our own horse (at present – he is for sale! very reasonably priced at £4000 + vat for this sound, young miler) there is no pressure on when this one runs!
Its Christmas Party night for all the team at Sharp Hill and Dibble Bridge, hope its not too manic in Middleham tonight, I am told it is ‘Black Friday’, everyone finished work and goes pretty crackers tonight!! Well, no finishing of work for us with horses, its a 7 day a week job and half the team will work Christmas day, half new years day…taking it in turns. Everyone works Boxing Day – its one of our busiest days of the year!
There are sure to be a couple of hangovers in the morning though – Phil claims he is taking it steady and may decide not to drink even drive back so he is fresh to work tomorrow…. Not sure i believe him yet but we’ll see. Matthew Riley runs at Haydock in the handicap hurdle, Richie is on board and he will have come on for his seasonal reappearance. Good luck to his Owners Paul and Jean Chapman with this good young hurdler and Aintree bumper 2nd.
