Saturdays News – updated

WINNER!

One of our favourites JAWAAB  won in gritty style at Wolverhampton this evening, well done to Owners  L & D Racing – it was a masterful ride from top jockey Joe Fanning, he never gave up despite gaps closing all over the place.  We all love Jawaab at Dibble Bridge and I am sure he is a favourite at Sharp Hill as well.  The drive back will seem a shorter one for Phil.

Matthew Riley wasn’t placed at Haydock, hopefully he will get a bit of help from the handicapper and come on for his next outing, he remains an exciting prospect and we look forward to his next start.

Earlier news

Phil and Full Speed yesterday by photographer, Keith Foster

Apologies for the lack of updates…but back in business this morning with two runners today, and a good second yesterday with our only runner, Marmot Bay- her first run for us, and she went very close under Eva Moscrop in the first race at Wolverhampton. This was a good start for Greg Mcrann’s filly and hopefully she can go one better next time, she is in good order this morning.

Matthew Riley

Two contrasting chances today – a National Hunt runner and another on the sand – Jawaab tries to recapture his last season form at W’hampton and Matthew Riley makes his seasonal debut in a RED hot looking 2m 4f handicap at Haydock on soft ground. Matthew is a gorgeous horse with tons of potential but he may struggle to  win  against some of these recent winners who have the benefit of a run, the ground is testing and its ultra competitive , its a big day at Haydock with the Betfair Chase and everyone wants a runner at the meeting. I’m hoping one of my favourite horses Bob’s Worth gets his head in front but i think Silviannaco Conti s the big danger  (I am the worlds worst tipster however)  and i would also love to see Tiday Bay run another great race.

Sunday off tomorrow but next week we have entries at Sedgefield and Wetherby, (Brunello and Ancient Times) and a first appearance likely for Robin Ellerbecks’ mare, Bedale Lane- a good looking daughter of Kayf Tara, like our other bumper prospect, Colin German’s ‘Up the Bees’.

Bedale Lane and Kyle in good form

Following the recent cold wet weather our team at Sharp hill will be pleased to hear that the green waterproof jackets have arrived , and with the stitching done on the back ‘Philip Kirby Racing’ and  ‘Topspec’ they will be out in force, looking smart – and keeping dry – on Monday morning.

Perennial is now on a short winter break following his good run at Kempton and he looks a lovely prospect for flat and hurdles next year for his new Partnership. He has come back to Dibble Bridge and some of his new owners from ‘The Gathering’ are visiting him this morning.

Here is Inch Manor who has gone to a lovely new home up in Scotland with Aime Dryden, he is going to be going hunting and low level Eventing.

And lastly, a photo of  Bob’s Ticket who was denied a run earlier in the week at Hexham due to the heavy ground but will be out again soon and is in good form at home.
