Cheltenham Tuesday & 3 meetings

Captured by Marcus Andrews – Skycutter with Henry & Sheriff with Simon on a final piece of work before today

What an exciting day for our team, Tommy and Sycutter’s Owners … he has sneaked in as no. 22 at the bottom of the handicap of The Grade 2 Boodles Juvenile H’cap Hurdle and must go there with a good chance of running well providing he doesn’t boil over in the preliminaries. He will have his new orange & blue hood on to muffle the sound, and Phil will bring him out as late as possible. Katie will have him looking superb but he wont be plaited up as he is such a buzzy character it could wind him up unnecessarily. Skycutter boasts 2 wins and a 2nd to one of favourites for the Triumph From for hurdle starts to date. As always in this fast and furious handicap, he will need a deal of luck, to hurdle fluently and be right there in the van at the home bend to feature. Best of luck to Tommy and his Owners this afternoon. Indy is my official photographer for the day, she has had a day off school to attend.

We have some fantastic memories of Cheltenham, and although looking for a first festival winner, we have come quite close with a 5th, 4th and 3rd to date from limited runners. Waking Ned was our first ever runner in The Foxhunters in 2007 – he jumped around safely. Stopped Out was a brave 5th under a big weight for his Owners, The Well Oiled P’ship, Lady Buttons did us proud with a 4th in the Mares Hurdle and who can forget our latest place, Rayna’s World coming 3rd at 100 -1 in the Mares Novice to Concertista. She is now expecting her first foal to Cracksman.

Lady Buttons 4th at Cheltenham with Tommy
3rd in the Mares Novice at Cheltenham 2020 – RAYNAS WORLD

Skycutter does not know his price in the betting & his odds of 33-1 will not stop him running well today providing he settles 🤞🏻.

Although Skycutter starts our action, we continue with runners at Sedgefield & then Southwell, a busy day for Team PKR.

The Tablet makes his stable debut for us in the bumper at Sedgefield, he has won a point to point bumper to date before being purchased and is a compact horse by local stallion, the late Trans Island. He enjoys his homework and is ridden today by Joe Williamson.

Our 2 shortest price runners are SOARING STAR & BURROWS SEESIDE and both are more than capable of winning, we also have the stable debut of RAFFLES REBEL who runs in the Amateur Handicap for Henry Newcombe. He will come on for today as most of our first time our flat runners, but he’s a nice looking horse for the season for Owners, Hope Eden Racing.

Yesterday saw another good run from the young stayer, SMART BOYO who was second at Wolverhampton after a bit of a barging match round the home bend. He can definitely go on and win another, and remains in good form. The other two runners will come on for their appearances, it’s just the start of a long season.

We have a further foaling update since my news post a couple of days ago. Helen Wood has safely delivered a quality dark bay filly to Coolmore’s Champion stayer, Order of St George. Thankyou to Kinsale Stud for doing such a top job with her as it wasn’t a straightforward arrival.
