Today we have 5 runners at Newcastles evening meeting with 2 in the first 5.00 and 3 in the last at 8.30. It will be a late night, but it could be worse, at least its not Wolvehampton to travel back from! Wemyss Point and Niven make their seasonal debut and a go at the AW is a great place to start. Both can be a little lazy at home so it will blow the cobwebs out and have them spot on for their return to the jumps as the season gets underway. We hope Wemyss has put his previous seasons problems behind him and shows us some promise for a better season to come with Ben Curtis on board today. Niven has Dale Swift for company and will no doubt be seen at his best when back over fences. Following them tonight will be Gowanlad, Burrow Seeside and Billian in the 6f Apprentice h’cap. Gowanlad is having his 2nd run since his wind operation and wasnt beaten far last time out, Andrew Breslin takes the ride tonight. Burrow Seeside is a double C&D winner here from this time last year, but is currently above his last winning mark. Billy Garritty rides him tonight. Billian has the in form Jonny Peate on board following his win yesterday at Musselburgh and will hold a chance if he finds a return to his 2yr old form. Best of luck to all owners and connections for tonight and a safe return home.
Exciting news from HOYS as part time rider William Pittendrigh wins Intermediate Working Hunter Pony of The Year and Overall Reserve Champion – well done to him and his star horse Silver Lough!!
It was a busy few days at HOYS for the Kirby sisters Izzy and Indy too. It was Indy & Freddie’s last First Ridden and they came joint 11th. Izzy & Piper also had great fun but unfortunately a hesitant step into the gate shattered the dream. In true Izzy style though she smiled her way through and carried on to finish the ENORMOUS looking tough course perfectly and should be very proud. Huge well done girls!!!
