Friday at Ascot & Catterick

Our runner at Ascot today

The very best of luck to Hope Eden Racing with their talented ‘En Meme Temps’ in the 2m handicap hurdle. He has winning course form and Ross Chapman is  keen to add Ascot to his winning CV. Ross rode him at Aintree on his comeback when he ran a nice race and with luck in running he should have a decent chance. Tomorrow at Ascot we have the grey mare ‘Dame du Ruban’ in the Mares Handicap Hurdle to be ridden by Tommy for Owners ‘Value Racing’ and she should also appreciate this stiff test but wouldn’t want any further rain.

Just up the road this afternoon  at Catterick we have ‘Hidden Commander’ for the Vac Pouch Company in the novice hurdle, he is a nice young horse who will be better in handicaps but has a fair level of ability from what he has shown in point to points, he’s been bought to make a chaser of the future.

Leopold’s Rock rounds off the card in a competitive looking bumper. He found the track at Hexham a bit stiff on debut and this easier test should suit the son of Rock of Gibralter.

Yesterday we had STARGAZER into 3rd spot in the Class 2 at Newcastle. He ran a little in snatches and although quickened up in the straight, this wasn’t his very best form and Phil needs to freshen him up to aim at the All Weather Championship in April once he is qualified. It was however, a fair run off 102 and no disgrace and he is still our pride & joy!  Iconic Belle ran a sound race on her return in 5th , she needs a bit of help from the handicapper , and Man of Verve was not helped by a wide draw and he looks more of a Wolverhampton & Newcastle horse. He remains off a competitive mark when he gets more luck in running and would be a good fun horse to buy at small money to stay on our yard if you are looking for one. 50% also available. He is pictured here being led up by Katie who had a late night back after a long drive.
