In memory of Lord Rococco

Todays news is a tribute to Lord Roccoco, half brother to My Strong Man. We sadly lost him recently. He was a very special boy, as well as being the most gentle and genuine horse, he was the first winner we homebred and his Owners had enjoyed some terrific wins with him. His first was at Hexham in only his second start over hurdles where he stayed on strongly for a 2 length win, and he also had a great win on Boxing Day at Sedgefield when he virtually made all with a really impressive battle to the line for a half length win – a lovely day for us and his owners to remember. Just 5, he had so much ahead of him but despite our Vet’s best efforts to save him & lots of care, it wasn’t to be. Losing them is the worse part of racing, it never gets easier. Please take a look at his video tribute below. He leaves us with some great memories but we wish he was still here, rest in peace kind soul….

Today at Doncaster…

Stargazer – a striking image by Megan Dent Photography.

In happier news, we have Stargazer making a bid for a double following his very impressive win at Haydock last month. Hugely overlooked, he won at 50-1 and we hope he remains in the same spirit for this afternoon at Doncaster for jockey Tom Eaves, made all the more exciting for Phil as he is 50% owner along with the Hassall family. Joining Stargazer in the same stayers race is Kangaroo Valley, returning to the flat after a spin over hurdles, with top lass Hollie Doyle on board maybe he could be todays overlooked outsider of the field for owner Peter Allen. Best of luck to both and all connections, with safe returns home the top priority.

A New Partnership Horse

‘Sexy Beast’

Phil came home from GOFFS UK yesterday afternoon with a new horse to be launched as our latest partnership horse. ‘SEXY BEAST’ is a 5 yr old 80 rated TEOFILIO gelding (Same sire December Second), beautiful, big, good moving horse. A very capable & consistent flat performer around 1m 6f ( 14 starts, 10 times 1st-4th ) to make an exciting Spring Novice Hurdler. He will have 20 5% shares available in his partnership, details to follow for anyone interested. He also needs a stable name to be decided which we will update you with soon, there are sure to be some interesting suggestions getting debated!
