Philip Kirby Racing

Racehorse Trainer based at Richmond, North Yorkshire

Sunday 10th News

We wait with bated breath tonight to see what our Prime Minister says regarding how we go about our lives and work for the next few weeks, and ultimately what impact this will have in racing again before June. Currently the odds suggest we are unlikely to see any racing in the UK before the end of May, but the powers-that-be in racing have a full schedule of races for the first week of resumption, whenever that may be,  including a large proportion of handicaps for all grades of horse. This has at least given Phil the ability to plan races for a number of our horses currently in training. Tomorrow we see the resumption of racing in France, and no doubt the viewing figures will be higher than usual  with no racing in England or Ireland. French Claimers will never have been so closely watched! And that includes from our living room….

New arrival, Be the Difference

Although its cold and blowing a gale today, we have enjoyed some lovely warm days over the past week, and we got some great video footage of the horses in the sunshine. This first video is  quite a steady, peaceful one, a walk around some of the fields one evening, and some familiar faces on display.

Currently up 32,000 + views on Facebook since yesterday, this video of the horses in the lake yesterday is proving hugely popular, it has been shared over 230 times!.

Before the calm came the storm, and this was the wonderful sight of us mixing two fields into 1, in preparation for all the horses getting to know each other and heading into a much bigger field together next week. We couldn’t resist the music as it reminded us so much of a scene from the Wild West! A slightly stressful 15 minutes, but all were fine and they quickly settled down.

We continue to keep our ‘For Sale’ page regularly updated, as we are finding that many of you are wanting something to look forward to and our shares have been selling as well as ever. With all the shares sold in Lady Westerner’s foal, we also sold the single share in ‘Dubh Des Champs’, the 100% of ‘Kangaroo Valley’ and also 2 shares in ‘Bertie Blake’ this week too. There are 3x 5% shares remaining in Bertie and we have put together this short video of him for those of you who may be thinking of ‘dipping your toe’ in the National Hunt water. Its a small friendly Partnership that enjoy their jump racing, and Bertie will remain fairly local having a strong preference for Sedgefield, and also having shown good form at Newcastle and Doncaster. He’ll be ready to resume in October, and will be back into work July 1st. The fees are an ‘all in’ amount, no hidden extras. Please see the FOR SALE page for full details. We also gave ten percent shares available in the ultra consistent duo, Mr Carbonator & Shine Baby Shine & Hope Eden Racing has some shares available in winning hurdler with us, Lady Kyria.

Foal News

We are so pleased to hear that Lady Chloe’s foal is now thriving at Coolmore, and we have called him ‘Boris’ after our  Prime Minister as both made it through a very tough time.

Boris

Helen Wood and Lady Westerner have been the first mares to arrive back at Green Oaks with their colt foals, and we have loved having them and getting to know them. Its an absolute pleasure  to walk not their field and spend time with them. Helen’s foal is now called ‘Albert’ after ‘Uncle Albert’ that was a huge character working on our yard, and sadly missed, and also an Equine ‘Albert’ that was with our family for many years.

The ‘From Day One’ Owners have been voting on the name for their foal and his stable name will be known by 8 pm this evening.

Skid, Lady Chloe,Marmot Bay and Musikhani remain at stud getting back safely in foal, and hopefully  they will come back to us  sometime in May or June.
