Tuesday at Huntingdon
We’re just starting to get into top gear with our jumpers at home, and the first of one of our exciting Mares makes her hurdling debut this afternoon at Huntingdon. We’ve had to travel quite a long way to find a Mares maiden but some of her Owners live locally and this is a fair, flat track to introduce her to hurdling. Tommy rides and has done plenty of schooling on her at home…. it will be the first time she has been right handed and it’s a very warm affair, so a good promising performance and a safe clear round would please us all. Floss as she is known at home won a bumper and was second in two others last Winter so she is no back number and being a daughter of Beneficial we feel she will only improve for an obstacle.
We have four runners declared for Wetherby tomorrow, spearheaded by the exciting & established pair Lucky Icon’& ‘Niven’. The latter is a talented young chaser who won first time up for us last year at Hexham with Adam and he’ll be looking forward to getting the leg up on him tomorrow in this competitive 9 runner race, The Bobby Renton Chase. Lucky Icon will be making his hurdling debut for us in the purple & white silks of Keith & Jayne Sivills, he won his last two before being bought at Goffs, and although he has gone up in the handicap as a result he is a classy horse to have going forward and he is declared for the 5.35.
Our other two are novices having their first run over hurdles – Sincereley Resdev who is still a maiden on the flat but has come close to winning and should stay well, and My Strong Man ( Tonto) in the Juvenile. He hasn’t shown a lot at home yet but is fit and well, has done plenty of schooling and is by a sire who gets good hurdlers.
Yesterday we took Top Ville Ben & Whoshotthesherrif for a racecourse gallop at Wetherby and together with our stable star, Lady Buttons, they paraded for the ‘Go Racing in Yorkshire’ morning at the track.
Phill Andrews kindly sent us these photos of the outing and all the horses enjoyed the change of scenery. Ben wasn’t the only ‘Charlie Hall’ contender galloping – Vintage Clouds & Definately Red were also in action – it’s going to be a mouth watering renewal of the big staying chase on the 2nd of November and we’ll soon know what other big Southern guns are going to be taking us on. Lady Buttons is being aimed at the OLBG Listed Mares Hurdle on the same card and all roads lead to that big day with those two.
And lastly some photos from a rather damp morning at the yard…
