The rain still continues to pour but nothing stops here – although it’s challenging our Team are doing a great job.
Tommy & Julie have gone to Stratford with the 9 year old OAK VINTAGE who makes his seasonal debut in the 2m 4f Conditional Jockeys Handicap Chase at 3.50. We wish him and his Owner Joyce Porter the best of luck and safe return. He has a race at the beginning of November at Wetherby as his main early season target.
It’s closer to home at Newcastle and we run BAHKIT and PUMAFLOR in the 5.30 & 7.30 races on the all weather. At least we know it won’t be off like Pontefract today which has succumbed to the extreme rain we have been having.
Our three runners completed safely at Kelso yesterday. All will come on for the outing and the ground was a fair bit softer than they were declared on but it’s good to get an early run into them. Our season will really get into gear from mid October onwards and they’re doing plenty of work and schooling at home for when that first Wetherby meeting kicks off on the 16th.
One of our nicest young horses from last year who will reappear soon is the novice hurdling mare, Dares to Dream – she has an early season race in mind at Huntingdon for Mares on the 15th and although she hasn’t been right handed before it’s a good opportunity to see if she handles it.
Other photos from the last couple of days….
And finally to a different discipline – it’s been a memorable and busy few days at Horse of the Year Show for Izzy and our pony ‘Freddie’ – they qualified for the Ridden showing final of the Welsh Mountain Pony Class. It’s exceptionally hard to qualify and luckily enough we achieved it at the Great Yorkshire Show. They achieved a creditable mid field placing in a class that is dominated by stallions – not bad we thought for our lovely ten year old gelding. Indy takes over fully next year as Izzy is getting too tall! Some photos from our trip to the NEC ….
To conclude…. let’s hope for a winner today, we would love to be able to do a late winning post this evening!
