Thurs 29th….

September is days away and we are well on the way with all our winter horses and we cant wait to get them all out doing their thing…. hopefully winning along the way!! The weather doesnt seem to know what it wants to be doing atm with blazing sunshine, showers and thundery downpours all thrown in over the past couple of days. Its not going to be long before we have to get the clippers out – always a sign summer is well and truly over.

Not a whole lot of fresh news to report other than Phil’s latest purchase yesterday at the Goffs Uk Yearlings Sale – a Darling Grace filly by Outstrip for owner Peter Allen. He is there again today so there could be more before the day is out!

We had a visit from the late ‘Uncle Albert’s’ wife Liz and their daughter a few days ago.  Albert was  in his late 70’s and did his best to never miss a day coming in to fill up water buckets for the lads mucking out and doing the odd bit of tidying. He was always listening out for a few tips and loved being involved with the team. Liz really enjoyed see the yard, having sadly never been before with Albert, and loved how we have his bench in memory of him facing the gallops – he would have loved to have sat there watching all the action going on!
