Monday’s News – and winner!

Lord Rococco wins the maiden at Hexham under Tommy

Double celebrations yesterday – an exciting win for his Owners AND the first homebred winner for Phil & I after four seconds with other homebreds Show Promise, Mchelen ( at Pipe’s) and Rococco here last time.  Again he jumped beautifully for a 4 year old and the leap Tommy got from him at the second last put him right into contention, staying on best of all from the home bend. He has a very promising future.

Its exciting to think that Lady Chloe’s first foal is a winner – we will see her Authorized 3 year old in juvenile hurdles later this year and she has the following youngsters –  a Presenting 2 year old, a Doyen yearling and Milan colt foal who will all be for sale to stay on the yard. They are all in the same mould as their dam – strong & athletic with flashy markings.

Of our other runners yesterday, all returned safely and the petite Milan mare, Milanvera ran a sound race to finish 4th  in the bumper on her debut, she can improve on this next time.

The winner yesterday was extremely welcome after THREE seconds in the 2 days preceding. The  high class dual bumper winner, December Second ran a huge race on his flat debut at Goodwood, giving away 10lbs to some well regarded 3 year olds he was a close 2nd and this means he will keep to the flat for the time being.

Mr Carbonator posted another second at Ripon  – he doesn’t know how to run a bad race, and The Resdev Way just failed to make it a double of wins with a good second at Ayr under his favourite jockey, Paula Muir – he came with his usual late run and looked the winner until just flattening out in the last 50 yards. Another top effort from him for his Owners Resdev ltd.

Our daughter Izzy didn’t make top spot at the Royal Highland on Friday but she did ‘make the frame’ with a 4th from 28 entries in the Horse of the Year Show qualifier with a good clear round. We’ll keep trying!
