Rayna’s World in winning form at Leicester last year

It was wet last year when Rayna’s World won in good style at Leicester and we’d like to think the conditions at York will suit her today in the 5.15 although it’s a classy handicap and races at York take some winning! Ben Sanderson claiming 3lbs takes the ride in this Apprentice Handicap, frustratingly for Nick Barratt-Atkin his licence has not yet been signed off by the doctor. Rayna is a big price but has a definite each way squeak on her best form. It’s done nothing but rain here at Green Oaks for 4 days and although all the land drains well, it’s certainly not the same as the fantastic summer the jumpers enjoyed outside in 2018. We will have to hope for a better July….🙏🏻

From the last at York to the first at Aintree’s evening meeting, Tommy takes over tonight on ‘Dancing Doug’ at 5.55 with his regular partner Harrison Beswick away. Tommy is still permitted to claim a valuable 3lbs for us in Conditional races, and he has a sound chance tonight on ground that is riding soft. Doug has been a model of consistency since arriving at Green Oaks and he is current yard favourite of our Travelling Head Girl, Julie Heneghan.

Best of luck to our Owners this evening and following a close second at Carlisle we would like to get back on the winning trail!

With a host of young horses in our fields we did not attend The Goffs Land Rover Sale but it made interesting viewing and the figures were very strong. Great to see Youngstock by Yeats, Milan, Martaline, Fame and Glory & Presenting continuing to make the big prices – we have foals to 4 years in our fields maturing nicely. Here is the report :

We are however though attending the upcoming sale at ARQANA in France which has a superb selection of 2 & 3 year old stores including a FULL BROTHER 2 year old to the Cheltenham Gold Cup Winner 2019, Al Boum Photo! Any Owners who would like a catalogue please ask and we can have one sent to you.  It is also a mixed sale with unraced 2 year old flat horses, in training horses & broodmare with foals at foot. We are hoping it may also be a chance to get some sunshine for a 2 day mini break!

Here is a taste of Arqana next to the races at Deauville – we think we’ll manage to enjoy a couple of days here…
