Double at Sedgefield
We were delighted to get off to a perfect start for Hambleton Racing with their talented novice WHOSHOTTHESHERIFF winning at Sedgefield yesterday for Sean Quinlan. Not only was he the second part of our double , this was also Sean’s 50th win of the season and long may it continue. Following his win, Sean spoke of how highly he regards WHOSHOTTHESHERIFF and that he won despite the tight nature of the course – he is going to be one for a fence and a galloping track, he is a big scopey horse and one we are really looking forward to sending over fences.
Tonmy Dowson was in no mood to be beaten in the Mares novice handicap to start the card, he gave L’Attendeu an inspired front running ride and this was a clear case of a horse appreciating different riding tactics.
She was crowded and bumped early on last time at Carlisle and never travelled after – this time it was Tommy back on board and he sent her into an early lead, jumping boldly as she spreadeagled the field, repelling the only challenger bravely after the last despite being briefly headed. It was good to get a win in Andy Bradshaw’s blue & yellow colours who were previously worn in top spot by Little Bruce & Bruce Almighty. L’Attendeu is a big rangy Oscar mare who will also appreciate a fence next year, both horses will have just one more run this season if the ground is suitable. Julie was also celebrating after yet another Best Turned Out with ‘Mary’ – we take our turnout very seriously and hope you think our horses always look ultra smart at the races.
Today our sole runner is Iconic Belle in the handicap hurdle at Musselburgh, she will appreciate the drying ground and we wish her Owners, Darren & Annaley Yates the best of luck.
