Racehorse Trainer based at Richmond, North Yorkshire

Sunday’s News and videos

Just Monday to get through now…

It’s official – Lady Buttons has been declared for the Mares Hurdle and is currently joint 4th in the betting behind 3 of Mr Mullins horses… how many Mares does one man need to train! He actually has 5 of the 16 declared 🤣 Phil & her Owners weighed up her best chance and although we are still firmly of the belief that Chasing is her true forte, the lure of the Mares race has been too hard to resist compared to a very tough looking Champion Chase – Altior is an exceptional Champion and he’s not the only top horse in it.  With Adam still on the road to recovery we are pleased to confirm that Tommy will ride her again for Owners Keith and Jayne – and he’ll be absolutely dying to get legged up on her in the parade ring on Tuesday – what a fantastic Festival ride to get and he’ll be back there on Thursday too for the Stayers on his Grade 2 Winner, Nautical Nitwit. These are the current prices on offer for The Mares Hurdle and the leading contenders…

And here  are Buttons & Nitwit in action the last couple of days…

Top Ville Ben isn’t on this video but only because I managed to miss him with my camera. He is being declared for the RSA Chase on Wednesday and couldn’t look in better shape. Will or won’t 2nd fav SANTINI run? He’s been struggling with a bruised foot.

The more rain that falls for Ben the better and he must have a lively each way chance for Sean Quinlan & his Owners, The Harbour Rose Partnership. As they look forward to Cheltenham they have had to call time in the racing career of their other wonderful Chaser, COURTOWN OSCAR who has been retired as a result of an Injury picked up in The Devon National. Courtown has been given to Julie Heneghan who couldn’t love a horse more –  she is looking forward to many happy years with him once he is fully recovered again. Once the madness of our Cheltenham week is over we’ll take a look back at his career with us – it’s been an absolute pleasure to have trained him and we’ll miss his handsome face looking over the door with such majesty, he has ‘the look of eagles’.

And some new photos of Lady Buttons who has a HUGE Facebook following – and so many lovely good luck messages from her admirers from home and abroad this week, we are quite overwhelmed. Jennie who rides her every day is delighted with how she is feeling.

Saturday saw our Pinnacleplus Partnership breakfast morning on the gallops with the giant 4 year old Robin Des Chapp. The sun arrived just in time and although it was pretty freezing it was at least a huge improvement from the driving sleet of earlier! Robin looked impressive coming twice up the gallop, just steadily at this stage but you can’t mistake his big stride and athleticism. He’s giving us a lot to dream about.
