Racing at Carlisle & video

Suggestion bowling up the gallps at home

Aniknam & Simon

Its April and the ground is  soft so we are still in National Hunt mode today with our two runners at Carlisle – Tommy riding ‘Aniknam’ in the first at 2.10 and Adam is riding ‘Suggestion’ at 4.30 in the 2m 1f handicap hurdle. This is Tommy’s first leg up on Aniknam who dissapointed at Uttoxeter the other day, not travelling as he used to and in an effort to keen him up the hood has been removed today. Tommy will be full of confidence folowing his two wins at the weekend, and we hope for a better performance from one of our old favourites, Aniknam to kick start the day.

Suggestion picked up an injury before Christmas but he has been brought back steadily and looks in great shape for his comeback – he did loads of school work and steady cantering  and won’t lack for preparation – however, there’s an unpenalised short priced favourite in the race – claiming 10 – who looks a bit of a stand out.  A promising run from Suggestion today would please everybody and set him up well for a late Spring campaign.

Beverley has been abandoned tomorrow which has upset Phil as he really wanted to run Rayna’s World on the soft ground he would have got there. Now its a drying forcast and he’s tearing his hair out as all her races have been off! We have the exciting ‘Mares only’ card at Cheltenham on Thursday and ‘Shine Baby Shine’ is one of only 7 entries in the valuable Juvenile Fillies handicap hurdle – she looks to have a great each way chance and all connections are looking forward to what promises to be a  sunny Cheltenham. Phil and I are hoping that ‘Mechelen’ is declared for the Bumper by David Pipe as she is the first filly we bred from Helen Wood and she ran an excellent debut for 2nd at Taunton last month – it would be great to watch her run at Cheltenham. ‘Birthday Boy’ Phil will be heading to London first on Thursday though – its the ‘Star Gazer’ appeal at 9.30 am at the BHA Headquarters – it will then be a dash to Cheltenham to saddle up his runner.

We thought you might like to watch this short video of Lady Buttons at Aintree… she is fine since she ran and will now have a well earned summer off.
