Happy New Years Eve
Captain Bob with Pete
We’ve had an exciting Christmas with our runners so far and we hope to keep up the good work tomorrow at Southwell with Captain Bob who runs for ourselves & Malcolm Long – we are happy with this Dark Angel gelding claimed off Jamie Osborne. He is gradually going up in trip and will be mixing flat and hurdles in 2018, we hope he takes to jumping like his half brother Call it On, he certainly looks like a potential jumper as you can see from his photo above. 33 or 66% of Captain Bob is available to buy – he is very sensible money and knows how to win races. We’ve had a lot of success with this type of dual purpose horse – he has the same profile as Triple Eight, Call it On, Goldan Jess, Agglestone Rock, Andorn & Amazing King – multiple dual code winners to name but a few. For those of you who follow the yard you will be pleased to hear that Goldan Jess has been enjoying some days out hunting with the Cleveland Hunt and his 2nd family, the Fletcher’s. Jess has proved a great hit in his new life and has adjusted to life after racing so well. The Jessie’s who part owned him now have True Ballew to carry the mauve and white silks and hopefully she will be back in action for her second start at Wetherby on January 13th.

Bitumen Belle looking good with Issey
Our next bumper runner will be Hangard ( pictured below) and he reappears at Ayr, the scene of his debut win in November. He is a big strapping chasing sort and we would like to think he has come on since his debut. He will be joined in the box by Wetherby winner, Skipthescales who will appreciate a stiff test on heavy ground round Ayr – he is a real stayer.

We’re pretty excited about the young National Hunt horses we have growing up at Green Oaks – they are currently split into four groups of 4 or 5 in each quarter of the big barn now that it’s winter, and really thriving. Being free to wander about they don’t develop vices which can happen being bored in stables and it’s a much more natural regime. They also go into the paddocks when the weather is good.
