5 at Wetherby…

It’s another busy days racing today as 5 run at Wetherby including the first appearance of our newest partnership horse Mangata making his debut in the juvenile hurdle. Followed by yard stalwart Nautical Nitwit and Minstrel Royal, both in the 3m hurdle. Then in the last we have both Sakhee’s City and Top Ville Ben taking on the 2m hurdle.

It is fantastic to see Mangata has attracted a lot of support for his first run since joining us, with 26 owners and family due to meet us at Wetherby today. He has our conditional Tommy Dowson on board in the 2m juvenile which looks to have turned out to be a fairly decent race as most of them do, but we have prepped him well and he has had plenty of schooling ready for today and hope he has a great first experience of the NH season ahead of him. We think he is looking a picture and hope those of you there today agree. Good luck to him & all his owners in The Philip Kirby Racing P’ship.

Nautical Nitwit

In the 3m h’cap hurdle at 4:20 we have the ever consistent Nautical Nitwit and relatively new addition to the yard Minstrel Royal. Nitwit tries his heart out with every run and no doubt will put up another of his tough performances today under Tommy Dowson. We love his genuine will to put his all in, a yard full of Nitwits would make Phil’s job a lot easier!! Best of luck to him and his owners Birrafun 2.

Minstrel Royal is up in trip today after his good first run for us at Stratford for 3rd where he finished inevitably a little tired after almost 3 months off track, so will have no doubt come on for the run. We hope he has benefited from his first run for us and think he has more to offer with this increased trip of 3m. James Bowen takes the ride for owners The Gathering.

Minstrel Royal.

In the last at 5:25 we have Sakhee’s City and Top Ville Ben. Sakhee City aka Sammy is another ever consistent horse who finds himself often at the mercy of one too good, with many 2nd’s in his form.  His usual jockey Adam Nicol is still on the sidelines, so Tommy Dowson takes over today for owners Keith & Jayne Sivill’s. Good luck, lets hope he can go one better today!

Sakhee’s City

Top Ville Ben had a very pleasing first run since joining us on the flat at Salisbury to finish 4th. He has some very impressive early form with an Irish point win, a bumper win and two nov hurdle wins. He race’s keenly so the key will be to get him as settled as can be managed early on, and he will be wearing his usual hood to help. He’s in the hands of Sam Twiston-Davies and we hope for a good effort from this talented horse, good luck to him and owners The Harbour Rose P’ship.

We wish all our runners, riders and owners the best of luck at Wetherby today & come home safe!
