Sedgefield review – winner!

A great start to our National Hunt Season at Sedge last night

Bought from  Goffs UK a couple of weeks ago , Nemean Lion proved a bargain buy for Phil & The Well Oiled Pship as he fought back bravely yesterday at Sedgefield after making all under Adam Nicol. A maiden up to this run, he showed great tenacity when headed and we also liked the way he jumped fluently out in front, he looked to really enjoy himself.

Stacey led him up and into the winners enclosure – this proved a timely win for her as she is sadly leaving us in two weeks time to further her education. She has been a valuable part of the team at Green Oaks and everyone will miss her.

It was quickly on to the last race where we had Bohenagore & Arabian Oasis running, and with the latter not performing to his best it was left to Bohenagore to try and make it a winning double – and he so nearly managed it!! Also making all until the shadow of the post, he was just run out of it  by Dan Skelton’s favourite. He is a horse who enjoys getting his own way out in front and this was a big step up from his last appearance where the race was not run to suit. It proved oh so close at the line but we had to settle for 2nd place this time.

All three horses came back safe and sound and it was a top evening and a very pleasing start to what felt like the start of our ‘NH’ Season proper. With two winners this week so far it’s clear we are bang in form – a relief after a clutch of recent seconds!

Check back in later for a further news post about some interesting young stock/ sales & races  results and photos from today at the yard. And it was Greyhound time again last Friday night…. did he win his 8th race on the bounce?
