Fri 4th July…

Silverlight makes promising debut….

It was Silverlights first appearance in public today and she made a very good account of herself. After a bit of a slow brake she stayed on well through the field to finish up a very respectable 2nd by 2 lengths to a twice winning colt. You never know how they will take to their first run, some love it and some like to take it all in a little bit, but Silverlight clearly enjoyed her day out at Thirsk and hopefully will carry on with the great attitude she has shown today.

Returning into the parade ring for 2nd.

Friday is ‘weigh day’ at Green Oaks and all the horses in training get their weight recorded. This helps towards knowing if they are on target for reaching their ‘fit’ weight, or who’s holding onto their extra pounds a little too well, and maybe which ones could do with a few ‘easy’ days after a run or two. All the weights are saved on computer file in the office for future reference. Horses who have been here for a few seasons or more will have their ‘winning’ (hopefully!) weights on record which is very handy to have for guidance.
