Fingal’s Cave

TODAY we have Fingal’s Cave running at York for his owners The RedHotGardogs with Daniel Tudhope taking the ride. Good luck to him and all connections and as always we wish him a safe return home.

TOMORROW we have Bohernagore having his first run since joining us. He goes to Uttoxeter with Adam Nicol riding. Good luck to him, we hope his recent change of scenery and routine has done him some good.

Yesterday we had Michael Naughton here from equinITy  giving us a demo using a few of our horses with their state-of-the-art equipment. We all found it very interesting and were impressed at how it all worked and the depth of the software that goes with it.

It all works from a neat little box attached to a specially made girth sleeve recording all the data via GPS.

Ready for action.

The device can record heart rate, distance, speed, stride, location, and altitude. It has long been known that recovery time is a key indication to a horses fitness and this is a very handy tool for seeing this accurately.

The software lets you analyse the data however you want and includes things like a daily diary, vets notes, and weight chart. You can also set your own criteria so an alert can bring attention to things such as a certain percentage of weight loss.

It certainly opens a whole new window and in an increasingly states and data obsessed world, it presents itself as a handy tool for a racing yard. Phil could even access it via his phone for ‘live feed’, so he knows whats going on even if he’s not on site. A very interesting morning!
