The weaned foals Khani and Flash enjoying their new view – they are happier in two’s

The new stables for isolation/youngstock at the end of our yard are now fully complete and also sporting oak flower barrels planted by Owner /Gardener/Photographer, Keith Foster this afternoon. Its all looking rather smart!

We also now have our large double barn complete and the broodmares are in one side and enjoying the warmth now….

The row of seven new stables looks out to the North Yorkshire Moors where we originally started Training 9 years ago…we are set for a warmer winter here than we would be if we were still up at Castleton!

We will never forget those days of extreme ice and snow..often walking the horses up the hill to meet the horsebox to get away to the races..here’s a selection of some of our snowy favourite memories

Little Bruce runs on for 4th at 100-1

But back to East Appleton and although there is a little snow on the way according to the forcasters, it shouldn’t be more than a sprinkle on Wednesday night, despite the sledge being at the ready by our girls.

Today we had Little Bruce running on well at Carlisle for 4th – still too high in the handicap but at least he looks to be going the right way now, and at only four there is more growing and strengtheing up to do yet. Cavalieri also ran a much better race at Newcastle for a close up 3rd at big odds – he much prefers this AW surface and hopes are high he can gain his first win of 2016 very shortly judged on this better effort. Thankfully its a lot shorter trip to Newcastle than Wolverhampton for us nowadays.

Tomorrow sees the 2 year old filly, ‘ Enlighten Me’ make her nursery handicap debut for The Shades of Grey Partnership over a mile, also at Newcastle. Her dam seems to produce runners who appreciate a mile + so this will be a test for the Sir Prancealot filly but she is fit and well and we hope she gets involved at the business end.
