We have had a quiet couple of days with no runners but plenty on at the yard and not helped by Phil and I going away to France when we had a couple of our Team off with injuries – we wish Peter and Sam a speedy return after a bad fall for Sam and a very painful broken foot for Peter, hazards of the job but bad luck when it happens. As a result everyone has been super busy and we have had some jockeys into ride out which has been great – Nathan Moscrop and Joey Haynes have been in this week.
Our French trip had been booked for some time and we had been kindly invited by the French breeding and racing Committee – it included a visit to the AQPS Chairman’s stud, and a day at the le Lion D’Angers youngstock show. We also went to a dinner party with all the visitors at the beautiful Haras de Rousseliare, owned by the Breeders of the top Mullins trained 2 miler, Un de Scaeux. They have some lovely stallions there including Maresco Sorrento, sire of Grand National winner, Pineau de rei.
We spent part of the day at the show with our old boss, Ferdy Murphy and his son Paul – as usual Ferdy gave us some great stories of when he was training in England and we could swop some with him now! We thought some of you may be interested in some of the sights and sounds from our trip – and a day brief visit to Autueil races on our way home – James Reveley in action. Going back to France and the glorious weather and scenery just made us eager to return again with runners and part of the ferry trip home was scanning the France Galop programme book for some suitable races. There is the chance that Owners in the Dibble Bridge and Topspec Partnerships could enjoy their horses having a run there in the Autumn – look out for an email, as we have found one or two suitable races for a trip across the channel. Dieppe being one suitable track and right next to the ferry port – its just like having a runner at Brighton but for better prize money!
An update will be posted later with our runners and plans for the week ahead.
