newcomers bumper – this Judmonte bred 4 year old is by 100,000k super sire Dansili and he wasn’t bred to be running in this £1900 to the winner race for future NH performers. However, Phil and Adam picked him up from the sales last year as an unraced  tall, unfurnished 3 year old and he has taken until now to grow into his frame, he wouldn’t have been ready to run until now. Whatever happens today he will only improve further as he continues to strengthen and mature, and we like him a lot. Keith Reveley’s  Sultan’s Pride and the Peter Bowen runner may prove tough nuts to crack however.

Rocky Two returns to the hurdling sphere in the selling hurdle at Southwell today – he is not well in off 102 but he ran a good 2nd when dropped to this grade on his last hurdling start and he should give a decent account of himself. Good luck to our Owners today – according to the weather forecast its going to be a scorcher!

Apologies for the lack of news for a week but I have been away to a 6 day ‘holiday’ show called Equifest with our girls who both had a great time with their ponies. I spent much of yesterday unpacking the horsebox which takes some doing after a week away with children, dogs and two ponies. Its back to service as normal now though and the ipad is working properly again.

Tomorrow sees Cavalieri at Catterick, a track he has won round – and a step up in trip from his last run over 1m 4f at Thirsk where he was staying on all the way to the line. He will need to break well and travel better early on round this track where runners rarely come from the back.

Wispa on the left, a sad day for us yesterday

We had a particularly sad day at our yard yesterday as we lost a lovely young filly due to a freak field injury, and our thoughts go out to the Owners of Wispa. She hadn’t yet run but all the groundwork had been done and she had been with us since a foal – we had been looking forward to her making her debut after Christmas – she was a half sister to Lady Buttons.
