Happy Birthday Phil
We have plenty to catch up with and soon there will be another new video posted as we got some great videos in the sunshine this morning at our fabulous new yard. It is so clear how much the horses as well as our team enjoy being here – the barns are so light, sunny and airy, and all the horses have a great view down the fields to keep them interested at all times. They are visibly relaxed and enjoying life, lying down for a rest in the afternoons or going out for some grass – and they are really keen in the work, it would be hard NOT to like being here! They will be on the new oval gallop in the next day or two, (there is also a 4.5 f furlong uphill gallop ready in a few weeks) Phil is pictured here on it as it just has its last minute touches made to it. The gallop master harrow for the tractor arrives tonight! The horse have not been missing an ounce of work as there is such a huge jumps field that we have been able to get loads of work into them round here every day and its been a welcome change of scenery for them all together with 20 minutes of flatwork in the school and hacking round the land. Here are some photos from this morning….
Phil bought the 4 year old gelding above at Tatts in July of last year, then an unraced Juddomonte colt by sire of last years Ascot Gold Cup winner, the young stallion Champs Elysees – out of a daughter of Oaks winner Wemyss Bight, and herself a full sister to top National Hunt stallion ‘Beat Hollow’ . He has a great page and is a fine big horse and an impressive mover. He is for sale for £10,000 this month only but we hope he is going to be worth a lot more if he wins his bumper which is of course the aim. He has been barned for the winter, enjoyed a month of grass here and today was his first day at work!
Its Sedgefield today and Julie is just setting off with Moscow Presents and Rocky Two . The novice looks tough for Rocky but he has such a high rating he picks up good prize money in these events until Phil finds the right summer maiden he should win – and Moscow goes with a strong chance in the 3m 3f handicap hurdle – Hary Skelton taking the ride as Adam sticks to his recent double winner who beat us last time. We are better in today and he should go close on this drying ground. A Birthday winner would be just the present Phil would like!
Another very nice horse we have 50% for sale in is the Monsun gelding ‘Keep Up’ who ran two really improving races over hurdles last winter and we have deliberately given him a break to freshen him up for the summer. He will be mixing flat and hurdles, and he has an attractive flat mark to exploit now that we know he wants staying trips. He is pictured here lunging with lauren yesterday.
This was ‘Colin’ yesterday – Phil is planning to declare him for Market Rasen over hurdles on Thursday for his first run for THE GREEN OAKS PARTNERSHIP – we still have a small number of shares available for £850 ALL IN for 2016. We would love to welcome new Owners to Green Oaks – all enquiries welcome.
