Winner – and Carlisle today
It was a relief to see Courtown Oscar deliver the goods last night at Uttoxeter. James Reveley gave him a superb ride as usual and commented after to Julie that he had never ridden a race in such driving rain , the conditions were horrendous. Courtown jumped as well as you will ever see for a first time out novice, and although idling before the last and giving us all a brief scare he found plenty when needed to win cosily under his big weight for Owners Nojab ltd. The right one followed him home and he looks a progressive young chaser to follow wether he runs again this summer or waits until the winter season, no decision made yet. Julie was pleased to win BTO with him and he looked in top order in the paddock, standing out a mile even if we are biased!
We run another very nice novice today in Up the Bees at Carlisle, Adam Nicol is in the plate and has schooled him plenty at home. This Kayf Tara gelding has had a few niggly problems but seems back to the sort of form that won him his sole bumper start. He may come on for the run to some degree as he has been off for the winter, but as you can see from this photo he is in great shape and team Olley will be out to support as ‘Bumble’ is owned by Assistant Trainer Simon’s Uncle Colin. Sarah will have him turned our to perfection and i wouldn’t lay her to win the BTO award this evening, she would be favourite in my book.
Everyone at the yard is feeling upbeat as we head into late Spring, the horses are clearly coming back to themselves and we have the likes of Rumble of Thunder and Stopped Out to look forward to on Friday and Saturday. Other entries with good chances include the consistent O’ly Roccs and fast finishing 3rd last time out, Perennial.
