We are on our way to Hexham with the Waking Ned Partnership’s ‘Transient Bay’ , (Stenna) the ground has just remained soft enough to let him take his chance as he is a huge horse and built more like an Irish Draught! He hits the ground hard when he gallops and you would never run him on the flat! We are amazed that he has been backed into near favouritism given that with 17 other runners and plenty of in-form horses, his task does not look easy but we were pleased with the way he stayed on last time at Ayr after getting briefly outpaced and hopefully the further half mile will help. He has an obvious each way chance but realistically is no 3-1 chance. We look forward to meeting six of his 20 Owners at the track today, and good luck to all involved with this lovely big, kind horse.
Its day three of Cheltenham and Phil is feeling smug about being top of our tipping contest jointly with Steve Kettlewell, it could all change today though and its a hotly contested competition!
Helen Wood’s foal is due tomorrow so hope to bring you good news from her soon. Royalty is also getting pretty huge and she will be heading off to Lesley and Bob Haw’s this weekend to get settled into foal. All being well she will visit the top class sire Midnight Legend along with Pickworth. Its three from three colts so far, can the luck continue?
The Philip Kirby Racing Partnership’s horse Cant Believe It is entered for Southwell next week and this will be his second start. He is in a similar mould to Stenna and you wont see the best of him until he jumps a fence.
