A winning Wednesday

Well done to CAVALIERI

His Owners David Marshall & Simon Wyatt & Jockey Eva Moscrop.

A  smooth win in the 1m 3f handicap at Caterick – hopefully more to come from this good looking 3 year old who will also make a lovely hurdler.

More news later… four runners to follow.

Almost a winner yesterday but Embsay Crag ran well in defeat, a couple of jumping errors perhaps put paid to the win but he was beaten by a horse 10lbs ‘well in’ as opposed to its chase mark and he gave it a good try. We have six runners today which is a lot of organisation, not helped by our horsebox being in France at the Theault factory getting a repair. Perhaps the best chance of top spot will be Just Cameron up at Perth, he will prefer going this way round and he hung right recently at Ayr when just narrowly beaten; he has the services of experienced jockey Brain Harding today. Going up in the box with him is Kate’s horse, Pen Gwen who reverts to hurdles today and is off a low mark if he can capitalise on this advantage – Philip Dennis claims a valuable 7lbs in this amateur event and he will only have 9stone 7lbs to carry over the 3 mile trip but is a big price.

Closer to home we have four runners at Catterick, 2 in both the 4.25 and 5.20 races. Danehill Flyer is one of Head Girl Sarah Olley’s favourites – she is pictured with him here at Sharp Hill. He will have come on for the run at Newcastle when he pulled too hard for his own good and we expect a nice run from him today, Philip Makin rides.  Joining him in this race is Cavalieri who we also expect to have made forward strides from his Doncaster appearance – good luck to connections of both horses.

Rio Cobbolo is shading Mysterious Wonder in the betting – our pair of runners in the Apprentice handicap at 5.20 Eva is on board Rio, Robbie Fitzpatrick on Mysterious and they both have a decent chance in this 12 runner field. Mysterious Wonder now runs in the colours of The Well Oiled Partnership who have the other multiple winners with us, Rumble of Thunder and Stopped Out. he has had a nice winter break and did plenty of roadwork at Castleton before heading up to Sharp Hill 2 months ago. Again we wish owners of both horses well, lets hope one of them is led into the top spot.

I have been sent some great photos taken on MIddleham Open Day by Equine Photographer, Nina Edminson – her a a few of them – thanks Nina.
