Mondays’ News
Flat and jumping again today – Kate’s ‘Pen Gwen’ is running at Hexham in the Hunters chase with Philip Dennis on board. he is not well in off his rating but will hopefully appreciate this better ground and give Philip a good spin round.
Phil has set off to Pontefract with the two chestnut boys, Jawaab and Sleeping Apache. Jawaab is having his 83rd start (10 wins) and Sleeping Apache his 1st!! No doubt Jawaab is giving him a pep talk on the way, hopefully telling him how to win races which he has been pretty good at. He now runs in the Ownership of Gareth Fawcett and Dave Hopper, and he will relish every yard of this 2m 5f trip at Ponte today, hopefully the ground will dry up enough for him, there is a brisk drying wind about and the sun is shining. He is a real favourite with us at the Castleton yard, everybody loves him.
Sleeping Apache is a homebred gelding by Sleeping Indian out of multiple winner, Remedy and he runs for Geoff and Sandra Turnbull. He may need further but he makes a start over 6f today and needs to get racecourse experience.Philip Makin rides him.
