HAPPY BIRTHDAY ASSt.Trainer SIMON OLLEY
Judging by wife’s Sarah’s large ‘sweet’ present pictured on facebook, Simon way well be doing overweight at the yard tomorrow morning! he will have to take care Phil doesn’t steal any of it, he is terrible for pinching peoples sweets!
Its Travelling head Girls Julie’s Birthday on Saturday and we are all going to her Fancy Dress party in Middleham, although everyone at the yard is keeping quiet about their outfits…Phil has already chickened out of wearing the first one i bought him, hopefully he’ll like the next one coming in the post on Friday. I am looking forward to revealing some embarrassing photos on Sundays News page!
Our other good news today, Lady Chapp (Lady Buttons dam) has been scanned in foal to top NH stallion Robin des Champs. There is still an awfully long way to go, and more scans to come but a welcome tonic given the awful disappointment of losing her Shirocco foal 5 weeks early. It will be a nerve wracking 11 months if all goes to plan. Robin des Champs stands at Glenview Stud in Ireland and he is the sire of Quevega, Sir des Champs and the outstanding Cheltenham novice winner ‘Vatour’. This top class stallion ran just 5 times in his career – all over hurdles and all at Auteil, he won 4 of those races and finished 2nd in the other – a proper NH sire, pictured below.
No foals yet for Pickworth or Royalty. Aggie’s dam, Royalty is absolutely huge, and due any time…we will hopefully have news in the next few days. She is pictured here at Hangdale Bank Farm stud where she is going to foal. There must be a big one in there!
We are all getting pretty excited about Friday and Lady Buttons’ important engagement in the mares Championship bumper. It naturally looks a high class race for this Grade 1 Event – although she has been handed the joint 2nd top rating in it and gets a big 4 year old weight concession on top of Adam’s 5lb claim. She gets black type if she gets in the top 3, and we just hope she can run a really good race and fulfill her undoubted promise shown on the two Wetherby wins. She is also the first racehorse bred by her Owners Keith and Jayne Sivills and this would make it even more thrilling if she could run a big race. The horses seem in good form and Aniknam kept up the good work of bumper horses at Hexham.
We will also be running the bumper horse ARDENLEE LAD on Friday at Sedgefield so good luck to him, he ran a promising race first time out behind Ustica at Newcastle. Brunello runs in the handicap hurdle for Ownaracehorse and he is well at home, and the winning mare Rosie du Berlais will be declared for one of the Hunter Chases, Phil has not confirmed which one yet! Back to the flat on Saturday and it is likely that Danehill Flyer will run at Newcastle and Celtic Agent is entered at Aintree but we would need more rain for this exciting Southwell winner to take his chance.
