Review of the week!

Monty (Stopped Out) wrapped up warm!

Monty (Stopped Out) wrapped up warm!

A new video will be posted on Mondays’ news…featuring some of our bumper horses in action up the 7f, also Everaard, Triple Eight, Ol’y Rocks, Celtic Agent, Up the Bees, Embsay Crag, War Lord, Danehill Flyer, Sakhee’s City, the Multiplex 2 year old…

Sunday…It was some morning at Castleton, the snow and sleet were horrendous and Phil and I were busy moving the broodmares out of the barn and into the stables ready to be prepared for going back to stud to foal and be put back into foal. They are all looking really well and Phil was busy being a blacksmith again as they had their feet trimmed and tomorrow its a mane pulling day. As they took some of the boxes here we took some of the geldings in their place and Amazing King , Mysterious Wonder and Next Edition are having a rare old time in the freedom of the big barn.

Its the Doncaster Sales on Tuesday and going from our yard will be the December juvenile hurdle winner ‘War Lord’ – Phil is very happy to recommend him and would be delighted to train for any new connections. He is in work up to the day of the sale and can go and win again over hurdles and on the flat. War Lord is just a 4 year old and is a dual purpose horse very much in the same mould as our ‘Amazing King’ , he has scope to improve and make up into a decent handicap hurdler.

War Lord in winning action at Sedgefield on only his second start over hurdles. The second horse has won well since.

Kyle James and Ancient Times

We were pleased with the first run over hurdles of Triple Eight at Doncaster, he finished better than midfield in a decent novice and jumped well on debut. He is likely to be back out quickly to gain further experience and he is a horse who handles soft conditions well.  Another horse who handles soft is Ancient Times who is declared for Ayr tomorrow (Kyle James) but with the forecast bad weather tomorrow morning the meeting must surely be in doubt, there is a 7.30 inspection.  We all have a soft spot for this little horse, he is known to us all as ‘Oz’.

O’ly Rocks will surely make it to Wolverhampton this time – the last time he went there was a chemical spillage on the motorway and hours of stationary traffic, he did not make it there on time to declare much to Phil and Eva’s frustration. Travelling Head Girl Julie takes him tomorrow and they are setting off a 6.30am.

Very much back in work are many of our flat team for 2013, although those that went on a long time in 2013 such as Perennial, Next Edition, Enzaal, Mysterious Wonder, Just Paul, Dr Irv  and a few others are still having a winter holiday. Pictured above is the now 3 year old ‘Sellingallthetime’ with Eva Moscrop,  the half brother to our 8 time winner (and Listed winner)  ‘Andorn’ (by Monsun) who is now up in Aberdeenshire at

He is a perfect stallion to breed flat/jumps/point to point – and show horses/small eventers at a great introductory fee and any of our followers up in Scotland please pass his name on, he needs plenty of support in his first season at stud. Andy has been leased to Beryl Bruce of the Lesmore stud by owners Mick and Peter Helm of Preesall Garage  in Lancashire (their link is now on our website  – the right hand side) and they have sold us this fab Toyota Rav last week, a platinum car bought by a superstar called Platinum.

Platinum (and his new toy)

A dual purpose bred 3 year old, also a chestnut, is the 3 year old ‘Dibble Bridge’ now owned by Colin Fletcher and doing his roadwork at Castleton. He is a scopey sort who is pictured here doing roadwork with Carl, he is due to be clipped tomorrow.

and he happily led our little string at exercise last Friday:

Partnership news:

Factor Fifty

Factor Fifty for the Topspec partnership is just ticking over at present, waiting for some better ground to make his hurdles debut. Transient Bay is getting closer to a first run but will first have a racecourse gallop – please all see your inboxes for further news.  We have (so far) one share in Next Edition available from May 1st, anyone interested in joining our original 20 strong P’ship (The Dibble Bridge Partnership) please get in touch.  Eddie is currently having a nice break and will be running once again at tracks like York, Ripon and Musselburgh in 2014, he won well over £10k in prize money this year.

Rehoming Stories…

We love these photos of newly re-homed ‘Worth a King’s’ with Dawn Slater from just 10 minutes up the road – he has a wonderful new home, and we are also thrilled that an excellent home has been found for Grey Command, who we have decided to retire from racing due to a leg problem. Finding homes for our ex-racers is always  a challenging business and we are always seeking new owners with time, patience and thoroughbred experience.
