Its been very productive month of September with both Goldan Jess and Jawaabscoring twice

…and several other good placed runs from the horses. The yard is really firing and there is a good vibe as we head into the new National Hunt Season proper. Jawaab was our first double winner for L&D Racing. He followed up his Newcastle win under Philip Makin with another impressive display at Pontefract, and was given a hefty handicap rise for the effort. Jawaab’s record for us now reads 1st, 3rd, 2nd, 1st, 1st and he is a model of consistency. The target is now the last staying handicap of the season at Pontefract – if he wins again he is very likely to pick up the £1000 bonus to owner trainer and yard – fingers crossed! It all goes on points and no other horse has won two this season, although if Blackstone Vegas was 3rd or higher , even if we won, it would beat us for points. Look our for him back at Ponte at the end of October.
8 year old ‘Golden Jess ‘has more than repaid our faith in him with two fantastic wins this month – more than any of us could have dreamed of as he has had two years off the track. Watched by his 50% Owners ‘The Jessies’ he rounded off the card at
‘Triple Eight’ – Hamilton was off so he now has an entry at Wolverhampton over a mile.
The 3 year old Revoque filly (who is now called Sally at home) has been bought by Preesall Garage and their friend Dave, and she will be named properly in the next few weeks. Nadine has ridden her away and she is starting her roadwork and will be aimed at mares bumpers later in the season. She is proving to have a straightforward attitude.
Another to impress with his behaviour is new Sakhee yearling ‘Sam’ who has also been ridden away and was good as gold round the yard today ridden by Sarah. Sam continues to eat like an elephant and must stand 16.2hh already. He is going to be one tall 2 year old!
Soon to come in for the winter are our other youngsters, 2 year olds :Lady Buttons and Chloe’s Image, and yearlings Warrior Jack and Back Baby Paris.
Arriving on the same day as Noble Scholar was a grey Daylami gelding called ‘Grey Command’. We have bought him reasonably out of Mel Brittain’s yard and he is a 5 times winner who can have some fun over hurdles and on the AW this winter.
‘Yorkie’ is getting fit and being schooled at the same time as he would also make a very nice show ‘Racehorse to Riding horse – he is for sale as racehorse – or riding horse, and is available at just £1500, great value for a consistent and capable flat stayer rated 60. He joins our other ‘for sale’ list of ‘Apache Brave’ £1500 for 100%, race planned at Worcester, fit and well handicapped, 25% of ‘Goldan Jess’ for £2000, still off an incredibly attractive mark of 48 on the flat for this AW winter season but heads to the Charlie Hall meeting over hurdles first, and last but certainly not least, 50% of ‘Cleve Cottage’ at £10k – a top class NH prospect by Denman’s sire, Presenting out of a bumper and multiple chase wining mare. Cleve is a superb individual who impresses everyone, he could be anything.

Its good luck to Stevey’s Lad on Saturday at Horse of the year Show for the National Final of the Racehorse to Riding Horse. Sam Osborne has him in top shape and he is just one of 12 to qualify, gaiing his place at the Burghley Horse Trials qualifier. Stevey warmed up for HOYS with a championship at the British Elite show in Lancashire. Photo on page 1.
Treeko has been going well in his showing home and this former hurdler of ours has been competing with success at top level this season (pictured below looking stunning!)
Princess Izzy Is being trained in polo with Holly Butler who used to ride her out at her first trainers yard. She is taking to it well.
Danehillsundance (Butch) has a wonderful new home with Dawn from Darlington, and we have also had news of Black Jacari who is now competing with his veterinary nurse owner Stacy Bennett and was 2nd recentley in ROR.
Number One Guy continues to enjoy his eventing with new owner Elouise Quayle. A star in the making!
Haka Dancer has gone to his new home with Wendy and Cam Woods who run a busy Livery Yard. It is Wendy’s dream to qualify him for the Grass Roots Eventing Championship at Badminton.
Galileo Figaro has been winning at top level in Novice Dressage and he features in the Horse and Hound tomorrow.
It is fantastic to see our past horses competing with success and having wonderful second careers: some at top level, others much loved companions or fun happy hackers. We are careful where we place them and look forward to bringing you news of many more in the months to come.
