She smashed it!
Words just about failed us yesterday!
Amongst a sea of purple and white scarves leaping and riding a finish in the parade ring, Lady Buttons ran her bravest and possibly best race ever in the highest of company to record her 14th National Hunt win and her 6th at Listed or Graded level in the Doncaster Yorkshire Rose Mares Chase. With 5 Mares rated 149 or above I don’t think there has ever been a better Mares Chase in history and Tommy gave her the most super cool of rides to sit and wait at the last, knowing how long that run in was, and just producing her when it mattered to put her nose in front. Today she has made the front cover of The Racing Post!

This is a wonderful win for our whole team – and now a huge THANKYOU as none of this could have happened without everyone doing their part, from Keith & Jayne entrusting us with their pride & joy, Phil & Simon for all the ground work, Sarah and Jennie who have ridden & ride her at home, Julie who drives her everywhere and produces her to look immaculate, Adam & Tommy who have done such brilliant jobs of riding her in her races, her many many fans who have overwhelmed us with their messages yesterday ( and always) and our dedicated team for their continued hard work – a day to remember forever….

And now to our other runners – LITTLE BRUCE running a stormer to finish 3rd over hurdles on his belated comeback , travelling beautifully and delighting Tommy with this performance.

We were also full of hope for the future following RACENSCAR’S improved second hurdles start in the fillies juvenile, staying on nicely to finish 5th and looking a winner of the future once she learns to hurdle fluently and fill her big frame. She enjoyed this race yesterday and it can only have filed her with confidence going forward.
Ravenscar
The one downside of the day was DIEU BENISSE who we hoped we had found the perfect race for up at Kelso but after becoming a little unsighted after the second hurdle, she gave herself and Sean a nasty fall and both were lucky to walk away unscathed. Sean had to stand down for the remainder of the day which will have been very frustrating as he had a strong book of rides. Benisse will be stiff today but was very luckily unscathed.
