Saturday Round Up

We have a weekend without runners but Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday have multiple entries both AW and jumps, and a first entry for old favourite ‘Mac Tiernan’ who may be back in action at Southwell on the all weather for a comeback spin. Also excited to see an entry for CLEVE COTTAGE who has been off for the best part of two years but we have brought him back gradually and all good so far, he is a gorgeous individual by top sire, Presenting and his ultimate destination will be chasing, just like the other lovely Presenting we have, Moscow Presents.

Last night saw four horses up to Wolverhampton, Quadriga and Whitchurch staying on nicely in their races, Iftikaar a little dissapointing again, and City Dreams will need a bit of time and perhaps has opened on too stiff a handicap mark.

We are pleased to announce that Julie Heneghan our Travelling head Girl has now been granted her Amateur Flat Licence  and is looking forard to her first official ride. Julie had a great spin on Quadriga in a charity race for 2nd this summer and it gave her the much needed boost to take out her

Licence.

We are moving horses around this afternoon and with the snow starting to fall at Castleton,  all horses at both yards  will be on bed and breakfast from now on for the oncoming winter. We don’t winter horses out, we are all too soft here! Its rugs on and thick beds only….

Phil was at Goffs flat foal sales yesterday and purchased a very smart dark grey  colt for Castleton Bloodsstock by The Grey Gatsby’s sire, Mastercraftsman at 38,000 euro.. He has a solid black type page and is a well grown strong sort as you would expect from his sire. The colt will be sold as a yearling this time next year as was the Zoffany  colt.

Our first Mare booking was confirmed yesterday – Helen Wood will be visiting top French NH sire MARTALINE in 2016, yet to be confirmed are Pickworth, Lady Chloe, Marmot Bay & Musikhani. Lady Chapp will be having a year off breeding in 2016 as her Presenting colt is due late.
